Mira Tran was an officer of the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth.

History[edit]

War of 3039[edit]

Tran was the Commanding Officer of the First FedCom RCT when the Federated Commonwealth launched the War of 3039. The First was deployed to conquer Nashira, acting in support of a contingent from the Twelfth Vegan Rangers. Although Tran was the senior officer, the expectation was that act under direction from Colonel Mitch Nelson, Commanding Officer of the Rangers' Delta Regiment, as he was the more experienced officer. Nelson's recommendation was a risky orbital drop on Logan City, a plan opposed by Tran but supported by Tran's Executive Officer, Leftenant General Vonda de Greer.[1]

Tran dropped the First FedCom on Ogawa, a spaceport city some fifty kilometers south of the Rangers' drop zone, but was so confident of the superiority of the First that she failed to secure the landing zone first. The local militia, which had a ferocious reputation, launched an immediate counterattack as the troops from the First were unloading, and it took five days for the First to finally secure Ogawa Port in the face of conventional and unconventional attacks, including suicide attacks using vehicle-borne explosives. The First lost eight BattleMechs, as well as more than two companies of armored vehicles and two hundred infantry troopers during those five days, and Tran was recalled to Errai; de Greer was given a field promotion to command the entire of the First,[1] and would continue to do so as a substantive Marshal for almost two decades.[2][3][4]
