Sven Harlock was the founder of Harlock's Warriors.[1]

History[edit]

Sven Harlock was a MechWarrior originally from the former Principality of Rasalhague. He took up the arms against the Draconis Combine but was captured and put in jail. After the First Succession War, he was forcibly recruited to lead a suicide team as a part of the Chain Gang Missions.[1] Harlock's Chain Gang was sent to attack the Lyran Commonwealth planet of Kobe. Hopped up on combat drugs, they attacked their target, a local water processing plant, successfully destroying it. They then attempted to retreat, ignoring that their DropShip and JumpShip must have departed, leaving them behind to die.[1]

While retreating, they ran into a group of bandits piloting older Star League 'Mechs. As they shared a common enemy, and Lyran reinforcements were only hours away, they agreed to join forces. The bandit leader suggested a duel with Harlock to decide who would lead them all. Harlock agreed and, despite having a less advanced 'Mech, defeated the bandit leader in close quarters combat. He then ordered his new group to retreat using the Bandit's DropShips.[1] After escaping, Harlock founded the Mercenary group Harlock's Warriors, turning the Chain Gang and bandit force into a for-hire unit.

Legacy[edit]

Harlock's group become a successful and long-lived unit. The way in which he took command became a tradition. The Warriors not only were specialists in dueling, but that also became a way to decide who will command the unit, similar to the Clans' Trial of Position.[1]
