Tadaki Johiro was the commanding officer of Johiro's Regiment of the Night Stalkers as of 3025.[1]

History

Tai-sa Johiro, serving with the Second Night Stalkers, was stationed on Matamoras in 3025.[1]

Ronin War

When the Free Rasalhague Republic was formed in March 3034, both the First and Second Night Stalkers were stationed on the world of Heiligendreuz. Tai-sa Johiro refused orders to cede garrison duties to the Rasalhagian First Kavalleri on the grounds that to do so would be to abandon the planet's Combine-loyal citizens to the hostile acts of the newly-created Rasalhague citizenry. The deaths of several combine citizens in violent riots and the destruction of structures with Combine architecture or designs seemed to support Johiro's stance but Tai-sa Marika Portis of the First Night Stalkers insisted that Johiro obey his orders. When two-thirds of the Second Night Stalkers refused to leave Heiligendreuz under threat of violence, the two sister regiments battled until the First was forced to withdraw off-world. While Johiro ultimately arranged for the evacuation of those citizens still loyal to the Combine, he knew the lives of he and his men were forfeit for their disobedience and chose to join with other Ronin forces on Skandia in order to free more citizens from the Republic's misrule.[2]

Having been informed that Warlord Vasily Cherenkoff would be using Skandia as his base of operations, Johiro and the Second Night Stalkers landed on that world in mid-April before offering safe passage to any citizen wanting to leave. When local militiamen attacked the Night Stalkers, Johiro pulled his forces back to the nexus of the pro-Combine populace and began arranging for their evacuation. In mid-May, orders from the then-deceased Warlord Cherenkoff finally arrived to direct Johiro's troops to Orestes in order to engage in harassing attacks against the Lyran Commonwealth. Johiro negotiated with Skandia's planetary government for the safe passage of the civilians under his care before taking his unit to raid Carse and Jabuka for supplies. By the time the Second Stalkers arrived on Orestes at the end of June, they had learned of Cherenkoff's death and were unsure of what their next move should be.[3]

The Second Stalkers' decision was made for them when Orestes was attacked by the Third Drakøns, Legion of the Rising Sun, and the Dismal Disinherited in late June. After several days of indecisive skirmishing, the commander of the Third Drakøns realized that Johiro's priority was the protection of Combine citizens and not the conquest of Rasalhagian territory. Negotiations between Johiro and Overste Jorges Ulbrecht resulted in the complete evacuation of the planet's remaining Combine citizenry before the Second Night Stalkers surrendered in mid-August. Ultimately, almost every one of Johiro's men was found to have acted honorably during the Ronin War and were absolved of treason charges before being demoted and assigned to other units. Johiro was personally imprisoned for a year before being demoted and reassigned to the staff of Gunji-no-Kanrei Theodore Kurita.[4]
