Description

The Vidar Heavy Defense Tank is a Clan Ghost Bear armored combat vehicle, first deployed in 3085.[4] The vehicle was designed by the Clan's Scientist Caste in bid to out due native Rasalhaguian's ability to design outstanding battle tanks. The Clan Scientists used their influence pushed to have Benson and Bjorn to produce what would be an unpopular ground vehicle among garrison forces. The resulting design would be regarded as being so bad, that Benson and Bjorn would have issue civilian Trial of Refusal pitting one company's Axel IIC tanks against Vidar to prove its inferiority. Slow and sluggish Vidar would soon lose to nimbler Tank, cementing its bad reputation.

The Vidar is a slow tank, using inexpensive 150 rated Fuel Cell engine to propel it barely above 30 kph. Its hull is protected by ten and half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor with integrated CASE.

However, despite its shortcomings, Vidar would prove its worth in battle against pirates attacking Dominion world of Porthos.[5]

Armament

Vidar's main features is that its feature Dual Turrets, where bulk of its offensive weaponry are split between two. Forward turret mounts four Clan Chemical Lasers with six tons of worth of reloads. Two 15-Tubed Long-Range Missile Launchers are mounted on the rear turret with advanced tech Artemis V FCS guiding the weapons. Four tons of worth reloads are dedicated to keep these launchers resupplied.

Help ward off incoming missile fire, a pair mounted Goalkeeper Anti-missile systems rounds out the Tank's defensive systems mounted in front of the vehicle.[6]

Variants

  • Vidar 2 - Introduced 3090, this variant of the tank was introduced by Benson and Bjorn address some of the shortcomings of the original vehicle. The Vidar 2's changes include; the exchange it’s Large Chemical Lasers for ER Large Lasers with additional Heat Sinks. The vehicle's forward AMS would be dropped in favor increasing Vidar's armor protection and changing the Ferro-Fiber for Hardened Armor.[7]

Notes

  • The vehicle features the following Design Quirks for optional advance rules: Bad Reputation, Trailer Hitch, and Rumble Seat.
  • The technology listed in this vehicle have been re-rated according to the Jihad Technology Advancement Table found in TRO: Prototypes. Duel Turret (Vehicle) is list as Tournment Legal, while Chemical Lasers brings the Nuberu tech level to Advanced rating.[8]
