The Bromhead system was home to at least one habitable world, Bromhead VI, and as of 3145 was located in the Victoria Commonality of the Capellan Confederation.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

The Bromhead system is located near the MacLeod's Land and Rollis systems[2][3] and consists of a class F9II primary orbited by at least six planets. During the late thirty-first century a recharge station was in place at the system zenith jump point.[1]

System History[edit]

The Bromhead system was colonized during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra and was a member of the Taurian Concordat by the time the Capellan Confederation formed in the mid-twenty-fourth century.[4]

Bromhead VI - more commonly known simply as Bromhead - is the sixth planet in the Bromhead system and has a single moon named Brom's Reflection.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

The First Taurian Lancers attacked Bromhead in 3021.[52]

As of 3041 House Davion was conducting a secret special operation near the Sholon Delta on the west coast of the Salazar continent on Bromhead. It aimed to attract an attack from Taurian Concordat special commandos, in order to capture them and study their ways to create a faux Taurian unit for false-flag operations.[53]

Prior to the FedCom Civil War Bromhead was home to three units: The Second Davion Guards, the Twenty-second Avalon Hussars, and Hansen's Roughriders. When the civil war started, the commanders of the three units met and discussed the situation. Finding that the Avalon Hussars and Roughriders were going to support Katherine Steiner-Davion the Second Davion Guards withdrew from the world rather than engage in a pointless conflict.[54] This action spared Bromhead the fighting that engulfed other worlds.

Bromhead was strategically unimportant during the FedCom Civil War, and so saw no action. Indeed its defenders were stripped and reassigned elsewhere.[55] This left just the Bromhead Planetary Militia to defend the planet when the Second Taurian Lancers invaded. The Lancers wiped the militia out, although the Leopard-class DropShip Acero escaped destruction, and not only damaged a Taurian Union-class DropShip during the initial attack, but also destroyed a grounded Mule-class DropShip full of supplies, forcing the Taurian Defense Force to attempt a resupply mission ahead of an anticipated Armed Forces of the Federated Suns counterattack. Captain Piotr Majikowski, the captain of the Acero, accurately predicted the deployment of the Taurian supply ship, the Overlord-class TCS Leviathan, and was able to harass the larger DropShip long enough to prevent it resupplying the Second Taurian Lancers before the AFFS counterattack began.[39]

The Jihad[edit]

In 3068 Duke George Hasek launched an invasion of the Capellan Confederation under the name Operation SOVEREIGN JUSTICE, ostensibly to liberate the worlds of the St. Ives Compact.[56] The CCAF responded with Operation THUNDERSTRIKE, which not only liberated the worlds seized by the Capellan March forces but which also struck back at worlds in the Federated Suns. Bromhead was one of the worlds hit, with CCAF troops attacking on the 18th of February 3069 as part of a wave of attacks that hit eight separate systems on the same day.[57]

In response to the asteroid bombardment of Taurus and evidence that implicated the Federated Suns, the Taurian Concordat launched a second invasion of the Federated Suns during the Jihad. Bromhead was an early target, captured during late June 3074. The Taurian conquest of Bromhead involved using nuclear weapons against AFFS pickets, as did the campaigns on Brockway and Midale, resulting in more than ten million Federated Suns civilian and military deaths[44][45]

Geography[edit]

Bromhead is an arid world with two large continents. The northernmost continent (Zanzibar) has milder weather and contains most of the cities and other settlements. The southern continent (Salazaar) is a giant desert split by a massive mountain range. Several peaks in the Salaam-Zurkan range are higher than Terra's Mount Everest. The AFFS used Salazaar as a training ground for desert and mountain survival during the centuries in which Bromhead was under Federated Suns control.[1]
