The Venturer was the lead ship of Venturer-class WarShip designed by SelaSys Incorporated.

History[edit]

Though SelaSys played an instrumental role in the design of the Impavido and was heavily involved in the Free Worlds League's resurgent black water navy in the wake of the Clan Invasion, the company's efforts were focused on refurbishing derelict WarShips such as future FWLS Nueva Badajoz and as a component supplier to Technicron Manufacturing and Illium Naval Engineering WarShip projects. By the FedCom Civil War era, SelaSys had initiated development of WarShip wholly designed and produced by the company: the Venturer-class light cruiser.[1]

The company employed retired Commodore Ian Deakin, former commander the FWLS Impavido, as a consultant on the Venturer project. Earning the privileged position as first captain of the League's first new WarShip produced since the Succession Wars era thanks to family ties to and political lobbying by SelaSys rather than being a competent commander. His experience serves the company well in the development phase of the Venturer-class.[1][2]

During the Word of Blake Jihad commandos from the Principality of Regulus staged an assault on the SelaSys Incorporated Yards of Loyalty on 1 September 3075 which ended with the Venturer destroyed when multiple incendiary devices ignited throughout the yard destroying twenty-seven support structures and rupturing fuel lines attached to the WarShip. The prototype vessel suffered sympathetic detonations within its superstructure and caused secondary damage to yard facilities attached. The prototype suffered catastrophic detonation, breaking the vessel's spine.[3]

The destruction inflicted on the Loyalty yards and its orbiting habitats at the hands of the Regulans was decried by Captain-General Corrine Marik. When Manei Domini leader Apollyon learned of the loss of the Venturer he ordered Naamah to teach their new leader Titus Cameron-Jones a very personal lesson on the consequences of defying the Blakists.[3]
