Welcome to Sarna. I saw your category work around units equipped with NARCs and I just wanted to give you a heads up. The wiki is not really set up to handle stuff like that very well. Equipment categories tend to give the false impression that say the Orion for example has a NARC equipped to every model. Something that is absolutely not the case, so we don't really use them anymore. The ones that do exist are a holdover from before we realised how unsuited our format is to this specific job.--Dmon (talk) 11:10, 14 May 2024 (EDT) | Welcome to Sarna. categories by equipment equiped[edit]
Hey Minigiant,
Welcome to Sarna. The ones that do exist are a holdover from before we realised how unsuited our format is to this specific job.--Dmon (talk) 11:10, 14 May 2024 (EDT)
Thanks very much for the heads up. I added this category because I thought it would be useful. For better or worse, there are an awkward number of units with NARCs, too few to find them by accident and yet too many to remember offhand (unlike say the Null-Signature System). I note the potential for confusion though - thanks very much for highlighting it. Would it be better if we changed the description of the category pages to "[units] where at least one variant is equipped with [equipment]"? 21:10, 14 May 2024 (EDT)
- The problem is that Sarna is lore-centric and doesn't sort content in this way. If we have a category for one item, we should have categories for all items but that is plainly unworkable, as it’s imho a bit of a snipe hunt. Any 'Mech or vehicle can ultimately be modified to carry any item at the stroke of a pen; and OmniMechs completely break the system. Which is why I feel we should positively not have the categories. - Pro Tip: go to the equipment's page and then click on "What Links Here" under tools in the menus on the left. You still have to wade through a little bit, but here is the Narc example. While not as good as a category, it is a bit more reliable, and it doesn't create the headaches mentioned above.--Talvin (talk) 13:28, 16 May 2024 (EDT)
