Planetary Info
Baxter is a world that experiences earthquakes, rockslides, and dust storms nearly every day. This is due to the severe gravitational stresses and tides exerted on the world by it's moon, T'Laus. A large comet or rouge world apparently came close to hitting T'Laus, and the near collision set the moon on an erratic orbital path.[1] The resulting tidal stresses have caused a great deal of upheaval in Baxter's ecosphere, with the world losing most of its arable land and replacing it with deserts. Currently the inhabitants of Baxter live in modified low-profile buildings and cities or modified caves found in the mountain ranges. A few legends of lost cities persist: These claim that some inhabitants of Baxter moved their entire city into underground chambers that were crushed in the earthquakes. Scientists think that things will return to normal for Baxter once T'Laus returns to a stable orbit, but how long this will take remains a mystery.[1]
Baxter's economy took a serious hit when it lost its farmland, but is recovering slowly. Unlike other worlds, the number of minerals and metals on the world are relatively low and hard to acquire, so mining isn't a large part of the economy. Instead Baxter's residents focus on exporting their sea life.[1]
