System Description
The Gan Singh system is located near the Liao and Pleione systems[3][4] and consists of four worlds orbiting a class F7V primary.[1]
System History
The Gan Singh system was colonized during the late Twenty-second century[2] and later became a part of the Tikonov Union.[2][1]
Gan Singh IV
Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Gan Singh IV - more commonly known simply as Gan Singh - is the outermost planet in the system and has four moons named Hari, Kishen, Nain and Ranjit.[1][2]
Planetary History
Early History
Settled in the late Twenty-second history by colonists predominantly originating from Southeast Asia on Terra,[2] shortly after it was settled, Gan Singh became part of the Tikonov Union. When the later Tikonov Grand Union became part of the Capellan Confederation, Gan Singh followed. Most of the land surface is devoted to agricultural endeavors, with the few larger cities located along the equator.[1]
Star League Era
During the Star League era, Gan Singh served as the headquarters for the XXIV Corps (Star League) of the Star League Defense Force.[5]
Fourth Succession War
Long a part of the Capellan Confederation, Gan Singh was captured by the Federated Suns during the Fourth Succession War. For the next thirty years its raw materials were shipped to factories in the Sarna March, Federated Suns, and Lyran Commonwealth. It was also noteworthy for the presence of the First FedCom RCT, the unit built around the regiment of 'Mechs Melissa Steiner gave Hanse Davion as a wedding present. The news agencies of both the Lyran Commonwealth and Federated Suns paid a great deal of attention to this unit, and the world that was its home. This resulted in a large tourism industry growing up while Gan Singh was part of the Sarna March.[1]
In 3042 House Marik probed the Sarna March defenses by attacking Gan Singh, but were defeated by the defenders who were led by Andrew Redburn.[6]
Operation GUERRERO
After Operation GUERRERO sundered the Federated Commonwealth, Gan Singh found itself alone. Taking a lesson from history, Gan Singh and Styk formed the Styk Commonality.[7] After the start of the Jihad Styk and several other worlds were integrated into the Word of Blake Protectorate, leading the planet's government to contact the Capellan Confederation for assistance.[2]
The Jihad
Once Gan Singh rejoined the Confederation, an economic revitalization occurred. Pharmaceutical companies in particular were intrigued by the presence of a special plant enzyme that showed promise in treating radiation burns.[8] The Word of Blake attacked Gan Singh during the first two weeks of December 3069, attempting to incorporate it into the Word of Blake Protectorate again, but the defending forces were able to destroy or rout the attackers.[9]
The Dark Age
During the Dark Age more than eighty percent of Gan Singh's population lived on the four temperate continents, with the remainder living on Nagpur and Sambalpur, where the bulk of the planet's food was produced.[2]
