Creating Command Articles
Good morning, Will9761. You'll find this template useful in making your new articles on commands: Help:CreateCommandArticle.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 08:09, 27 May 2018 (EDT)
- Hey Will9761 just want to repeat Revs push for your articles to use the templates, your content is good but you need to wikifi it!--Dmon (talk) 17:53, 3 June 2018 (EDT)
Creating Character Articles
Will, please take a look at this Character template. This should help bring Ren Posavatz up to the standards of similar articles. Let me know if you have any questions. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 21:58, 29 May 2018 (EDT)
References
This section should help your references become useful to readers: Help:References#Specific_References. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 18:03, 12 June 2018 (EDT)
Aurigan Directorate
Hey Will9761, I have restored the Directorate article as a redirect as the nation is not really a different nation to the Coalation, it is simply a change of government for a short three years, and resultant civil war. I have however incorporated what you wrote into the Directorate section of the Coalation article as it is very good.--Dmon (talk) 04:11, 22 June 2018 (EDT)
Article name and scope
Hi Will9761. I appreciate your work on expanding our coverage of the extra content from the HBS game. I've put some comments on Talk:Arms Dealer and Talk:Lord, and I apologize if they come across as a bit harsh. But these articles do have problems that need to be adressed. Hope I'm helpful and not discouraging. :) Frabby (talk) 07:02, 23 June 2018 (EDT)
- I left the characters of the arms dealer and Captain Haust blank on purpose due to not having full names for them--Dmon (talk) 07:46, 23 June 2018 (EDT)
- I've remade the Lord and Lady articles into redirects to Nobility. As for the Arms Dealer character, still no good idea. This should perhaps all be covered in Samuel Ostergaard's article, and/or in the Storyline section of the BattleTech (Video Game) article. Frabby (talk) 04:06, 26 June 2018 (EDT)
Hi again. I see you've been creating articles for numerous computer game characters. That's good, but I am a bit unhappy about the article names in some cases - namely those cases where the full name isn't known, like the Arms Dealer already mentioned above. Newer examples would be Baxter (Character) or Ambassador Yee. The articles as such are fine, but I feel they should contain a note to the effect that the character's full name isn't known, and that the article name is therefore conjecture. Perhaps we should create a template for articles with arguable article names because the subject doesn't have a proper known name or description? Frabby (talk) 06:24, 14 August 2018 (EDT)
Good work
Good work on the Iberia article! :) Frabby (talk) 04:06, 26 June 2018 (EDT)
Merging articles
Will, since I cannot rationalize how any user of Sarna might search for "RAF - Uniforms" with exactly that term, and since it seems extremely unlikely that anyone would be looking for uniform articles for a limited faction, I think it's best the article gets pasted directly into Republic Armed Forces. I'll let you make an argument as to why it should be kept as it's own article, but you should also suggest a title in line with Policy:Article Naming, to strengthen your stance.
If you choose to not defend the article as a separate entity, I'll make the merge following your next edit session.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 12:32, 27 June 2018 (EDT)
- To be honest with you, I actually welcome the change. It helps to get the info across easier. - Will9761
- Excellent. In reviewing the Republic Armed Forces page, I saw where it was set-up by the creator to link to "specialty" articles, which did not help the primary article at all. I'll make the change.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 15:56, 27 June 2018 (EDT)
Of Foxes and Sharks
Hi, Revanche asked me to weigh in on your suggestion (as if my opinion was somehow more valuable than anyone elses'). For what it's worth, you've got my complete support: All Clan Diamond Shark articles should redirect to Clan Sea Fox. It's the virtual same Clan under an alias name.
That said, remember to keep it short. We want to write articles for Sarna, not sourcebooks that steal CGL's thunder. ;) Frabby (talk) 04:42, 3 July 2018 (EDT)
Character affiliations
Good evening Will, I have changed the affiliations of the character articles you created for the MechCommander 2 characters towards their nation states rather than the ruling house. I am actively trying to steer the wiki in the direction of nation states being the go-to affiliation unless the character is born of a noble family (and thus would have a familial loyalty that potentially outshines national loyalty), I would appreciate it if you would assist in this huge task by adopting this system for future articles.--Dmon (talk) 19:55, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- Ok, will do.
-Will9761
You’re welcome, I am glad to help. I also took liberty in making a separate page to direct people to both Baxter the planet and the person.

Too specific or too broad
Hey Will, I expressed encouragement for you doing the Video Game Characters last time I spoke to you but I am starting to grow concerned about phrases like "the player" and "the game". As I am sure you are aware the vast majority of stuff on the wiki is based on table top stuff and novels, as a result stuff like Category:Playable Characters really is either too specific to the video games or way way to broad as pretty much EVERYBODY is a playable character in the TT version. I do not have a sure fire recommendation as to how to get around using these phrases, but I do think it is something you should take into consideration when writing.--Dmon (talk) 17:19, 23 August 2018 (EDT)
- Sure, I will see what I can do about the phrasing and the Playable Characters section to be a bit more specific. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
--Will9761
- Thank you, as with the Character affiliations I am just trying to nudge people in roughly the same direction. The BattleTech Universe being a multi-media franchise means people come in from different directions and want different things to be included so I do my best to try avoid letting too much content become bogged down in one place!--Dmon (talk) 17:53, 23 August 2018 (EDT)
That is understandable. So far I made a category to be a bit more specific called "Playable Characters (Video Games)" so it would be less confusing. I also made sure to remove "the player" and replace the wording with the respective character's names instead.

Thoughts
Morning Will9761 (or what ever time it is where you are),
As one of a crop of new editors on the wiki I would like your thoughts on something that has knock on effects about handling future new products. How we handle new products.--Dmon (talk) 05:46, 28 November 2018 (EST)
Image Summary Template & Apocryphal Images
Hi Will, Can you please add the source of images when you upload: Policy:Images. I am adding Template:Image_summary to all images that I can, and any help is appreciated. If you add the template and the information is unknown, leave the line blank. The image will show up in the [Images Missing Copyright Information] category and someone else may be able to add the info. But, obviously, the more you can add the better. If there is no template on the image, it does not appear in the category, and can only be found by chance. Also, apocryphal images also need to be tagged, not just articles. There's an easier tag for them that goes on top of the images page: {{ApocryphalImage}}. I added the template and apoc tag to the two most recent images that you uploaded if you'd like to reference them: File:Bogdan Tubbs.png and File:Cameron Coyne.png Thank you!--Cache (talk) 21:18, 22 March 2019 (EDT)
Ok, sorry about that. It slipped my mind. Thanks for reminding me. - Will9761
List of Bloodnames
Hey Will,
Couple of things, some good, some bad. First up good work on the List of Bloodnames stuff updating it. I am not really a fan of the Clans so it is nice seeing somebody put sone serious effort into them as they can be ignored a bit sometines. Now the bad, you need to add references!!!!! I can tell by the quality of the work that it is correct but we need to be able to prove it!
And now as a side thing, as I was reading your much improved article it struck me that List of Bloodnames does not really fit anymore as the article has outgrown that. Maybe we should consider a new name?--Dmon (talk) 17:39, 2 August 2019 (EDT)
Thank you. I'll be working on adding the references right away. As for List of Bloodnames, we could try to call it "Bloodnames (History)" or "Bloodnames of the Clans".

Notable pilots
Hey Will, I have rolled back your edit about the Bounty Hunter on the Warhammer article because although the info is correct, the BH is strongly assosiated with the Marauder, so that is his notable pilot entry and that is it. The fact he piloted a Warhammer or anything else in his career is secondary to the one he is notable for. Also Naty K has a notable pilot entry for piloting the very same 'Mech not just the same model, that is kinda cheating!--Dmon (talk) 19:02, 30 November 2019 (EST)
- My apologies, I did not know. I wasn't trying to cheat or deceive, I thought that the Warhammer that Natasha Kerensky had was the same used by the Bounty Hunter. It was an honest mistake on my part.
- It is the same one that they both used, the comment about the cheating was a joke about the implication of the 'mech trying to hog the limelight with multiple famous pilots. Don't worry at no point did I think you where trying to cheat or decieve, just my humour not translating across well into the written format without emojis. No harm done sir.--Dmon (talk) 19:13, 30 November 2019 (EST)
Alexi / Alexis
Hey Will,
Just wanted to ask about the Alexis Holt article you created, I personally only remember the character as Alexi, but if Alexis is her full name, do you know how to set up a redirect?--Dmon (talk) 17:01, 11 January 2020 (EST)
- When I made the page Alexis Holt, I thought it was referring to Alexi Holt. Of course after I saw the Alexi Holt page, I decided to take the information I made for the Alexis Holt page and add it to the Alexi page. Unfortunately, I do not know how to make a redirect page yet.-Will9761
- Not a problem! To create a redirect is real easy. Go to the article name you want to redirect from (so in this case it would be Alexi Holt) and type the word Redirect with a hash in front of it and then the name of the article you want users to end up at, so we would have the text hashRedirectAlexis Holt. Only ever do this to empty articles though as once a redirect is set up users will only ever see the Alexis Holt article unless they use the "What Links Here" tool.
- Specifically on the name Alexis holt it might be worth putting a ref for her name being Alexis in the initial character brief since she is called Alexi so often.--Dmon (talk) 04:55, 12 January 2020 (EST)
Sure, I'm on it.
UPDATE: Okay, I looked through some Dark Age Novels to see if her name was Alexis, but they confirmed that her real name is in fact, Alexi. So the "Alexis" page I edited was a mistake on my part. Is there any way to revert the page back to "Alexi Holt"? - Will9761
Nomination.
I just want you to know that I have nominated you for an award in the 2019 Founder's Awards for your work on the wiki last year. Dmon (talk) 09:34, 16 February 2020 (EST)
