Unit Description
The 49th Shadow Division was an one of the "hidden" Word of Blake military forces that was reveals in early 3070s. This was an elite Manei Domini control Bakist unit, which was used principly in the Free Worlds League Theater of the Jihad.
History
First Appearence
The 49th Shadow Division first appeared in combat on Wallis in May 3071, in the disguise Marik Commonwealth colors. They successfully setup the Commonwealth as to blame for the destroyed the 2nd Regulan Hussars leaving no survivors.[1] Though later the Nightwalker's true name was made known later.[2]
Night of Fire
The Division strucked Regulus in June of 3072 when unit was identified for first time. The unit conducted a assault on the planet in June. The unit razed the city after clashing with Regulus forces on the ground, 1st Regulan Hussars. On orders of Naamah's set fire bomb the city, as personal retritution to Prince of Regulus, Kirc Cameron-Jones. The 49th Division set Regulus City on fire with exception of the palace. This is where the battle got its the infamous name, the Night of Fire.[3] The fires the 49th Division ultimately alters the atmosphere of the planet.[4]
Regulan attack on Gibson
After the returning to Gibson, Naamah names her executive officer, Dantalion, as new CO of the 49th Division. Renaming the the nickname of the Division from Naamah's Nightwalkers to Dantalion's Dirge in 3073.[5]
In August, 3073 the Regulan task force of assault Gibson for strike Regulus City. The 49th Division fought General Tomaso Kinchuhara's Fourth Regulan Hussars & his mercenary task force in Gibson Federated BattleMech factory complex. The Division conducted a combat drop on top of smaller mercenary commands that made up the third of the Task Force. They with the 52nd Shadow Division mauled the Regulus task force, including taking life of General Kinchuhara.[6] Precentor Apollyon ordered the Regulans to surrender, which some of the smaller merc units did. This forced Regulans forces escape Gibson.
Irian
The unit was deployed to the world of Irian in 3074. There it was called in to assist in battling the anti-blake insurgency on the planet.
Officers
- As of 3073, the Commanding Officer was Precentor Dantalion.
Tactics
The Forty-Nineth is known to use fire tactics (such as using inferno rounds) in their weaponry. Since Precentor Dantalion becoming commanding officer, the Forty-Nineth numerous Battle Armor units mixed with every Level II formation.[7]

The 49th Shadow Division is resistent to external heat. Each 'Mech unit suffers from half-heat inflicted by it, while vehicle & battle armor suffer from no heat effects. Conventional Infantry will only be destroyed on a roll of 10 or greated when suffering heat effects.
Rules while Dantalion's in Command
Since Dantalion becoming commanding officer of the unit in 3073. Anytime the player controling includes four which includes Battle Armor squad. The player receives following bonuses. They receive +1 to their inititive and all battle armor receives -1 to their gunnery and anti-Mech skills rolls.[8]
