History

The 22nd Skye Rangers were never a strong unit. The unit was stationed on Engandine after the War of 3039 removed most of the Lyran defenders in the region and pirates attacked the world.[1] The AFFC and later Lyran Alliance used the unit as a sink unit and assigned their malcontents to the regiment. Defending Engadine in 3058, they were expected to fold early when the Jade Falcons attacked, but instead they fought well, holding the Falcons off for six days. They were poised to push the 2nd Falcon Jaegers off the world when the 7th Falcon Regulars dropped behind them. Though eventually defeated the Falcons were so impressed that they took the survivors as bondsmen.[2] After the withdrawal from Coventry these bondsmen were released and returned to the Alliance.

To rebuild the unit, the LAAF High Command decided to merge the survivors of the 10th Skye Rangers with the survivors of the 22nd. This allowed the regiment to rebuild quickly, but integration issues troubled the unit.[3]

In 3065 the 4th Skye Rangers tried, alongside the 17th Skye Rangers, the 22nd Skye Rangers and the 32nd Lyran Guards, to conquer Hesperus II, but were beaten back by the Grey Death Legion, 15th Lyran Guards and 36th Lyran Guards. The Skye forces had to retreat.[citation needed]

The 22nd spent most of the FedCom Civil War moving towards Skye. In the first wave they moved to Miquelon.[4] They then moved to Krievci[5] before landing on Cameron in the third wave.[6]

In 3075, during the Jihad, the 52nd Shadow Division attacked Caledonia, wiping out the 22nd Rangers.[7]

Officers

In 3025 the unit is commanded by Colonel Ivan Petroff.[8]

As of 3062 the commanding officer is Colonel Francisco de Argall.[3] He was also in command during the 3058 Falcon Incursion.[9]

Tactics

They prefer surprise attacks. Contrary to most other lyran units, they have a lot of light Mechs.[3]
