History[edit]

In 2915 the Fifty-fourth Combined Arms Combat Team was stationed on Tamar when it was attacked by the 4th Proserpina Hussars. A company of airmobile infantry attempted to assault the landing zone and disrupt the Kuritan operations. The light Ferret VTOLs that they were using for transport were not up to the task and the entire assault force was destroyed. The morale loss to the Fifty-fourth was such that they fled the combat zone.[1]

The unit saw further action on Tamar and within four months their commanding officer had been killed in action. A month after his death the Fifty-fourth once again faced off against the Proserpina Hussars. This time their new commander used her mobile infantry to raid and disrupt the rear echelon units of the Hussars. This forced them to pull an entire light ‘Mech Battalion back to deal with the threat. This left the Hussars undermanned at their front and unable to complete their mission.

The fighting on Tamar lasted seven months, during which time the Fifty-fourth were praised for their combat improvement and by the end were considered an outstanding infantry unit.[2]

The exact composition of the Fifty-fourth is not known, it included at least one company of infantry and a squadron of VTOLs. It is not known if the airmobile infantry in the second engagement on Tamar were a second company or replacements for the destroyed first.[1]

Given that the unit was commanded by a Colonel, it is likely the Fifty-fourth was of Regimental size.
