An Ting

System Information
X:Y Coordinates301.652 : 109.811[e]

The An Ting system was the location of at least one inhabited world and as of 3081 was located in the Matsuida Prefecture of the Galedon Military District of the Draconis Combine.[1]

System Description

The An Ting system is located near the Huan and Igualada systems and lies spinward from Terra.[1][2]

System History

The An Ting system was colonized at some point prior to the end of the Age of War. Its reference on astronavigation charts was removed when the system was abandoned sometime after 3081.[3][4]

An Ting

Planetary Info

An Ting has several (at least three) "lesser moons".[42] A continent called Hotei is mentioned to lie in the northern hemisphere.[43]

Planetary History

Third Succession War

An unreliable source[19] implies that An Ting was chosen for R&R by a House Davion unit in 3022, suggesting the planet was under Federated Suns control at the time. McKinnon's Raiders found a mercenary unit from the Capellan Confederation raiding a depot on the world and drove them off on 1 October 3022.[19]

An Ting was the garrison "homeworld" of Wolf's Dragoons during their employ with the Draconis Combine from 3023 until 3028. On world, they built a large base spread over five kilometers which held command centers, repair facilities, supply depots and resources for the Dragoons dependents. Dragoons units, usually around a battalion in strength, would routinely be onsite for R & R. In orbit, Hephaestus Station, the Dragoon mobile space station, was also moved to orbit An Ting.[44]

As tensions reached the boiling point between Warlord Grieg Samsonov and Wolf's Dragoons in 3027, the people of An Ting were roused by false information to hate the mercenaries residing on their world. ComStar would even declare the Dragoons outlaws and prevent them from accessing the HPG so they could send messages off world. During this confusion, Kuritan agents were able to slip aboard Hephaestus Station and seize control of the station.[45]

When Wolf's Dragoons found themselves suddenly fighting a war against their own employer for the second time, Jaime Wolf enacted a contingency plan that had been developed after the experience with Anton Marik. In a suicide mission, a small group of dedicated Dragoon soldiers and technicians fought their way into the HPG compound in the city of Cerant on the night of January 3, 3028, and sent a coded message to the scattered Dragoon forces, ordering them to withdraw and regroup on the ice planet Misery. Four 7-man squads from the An Ting Civilian Guidance Corps, and eventually an elite Kurita Civilian "Volunteer" Squad and a Vulcan 'Mech, attempted to retake the HPG building without inflicting too much damage. During the fighting, the Seventh Kommando team leader Anton Shadd was killed.[45][46]

At the same time, another Seventh Kommando team was sent to take back Hephaestus Station. However, before they could secure the station, the Kuritan agents on board heard of the attack on the ComStar compound and blew up the station with everyone on board.[45]

While the Dragoons were trying to recover from these setbacks, the Combine sent the Ryuken regiments to attack their former teachers the Dragoons. This attack back fired on the Combine as the Dragoons were driven by rage and drove the Ryuken off An Ting. To help protect the Dragoon dependents from further attacks as they made their escape, Jaime Wolf would issue a challenge to the Combine to meet his warriors on the planet Misery.[45]

War of 3039

The First Davion Guards and the 17th Avalon Hussars fought the Ryuken-roku on An Ting. Despite the fact that the First Guards were considered an elite, fanatical command and the AFFS units outnumbered their opponent 2-to-1, they suffered from severely low morale. When the Ryuken-yon reinforced the Ryuken-roku, the First Davion Guards ultimately retreated off-world.[47]

The Jihad

On the 20th of April 3070, An Ting found itself to suddenly be the subject of an investigation by the leadership of the Draconis Combine; the reason for the sudden interest was the outbreak of a plague which appeared to be similar to the Curse of Galedon, a plague that had appeared on the world of Galedon V the previous year. By December it had been confirmed that the two plagues were one and the same, and the plague had become a rapidly spreading epidemic on An Ting. The plague had arrived to the planet with the fleeing AFFS units. As with Galedon, the DCMS High Command placed An Ting under an immediate quarantine.[48] This wasn't enough to prevent panicked Combine citizens from trying to leave the world.[49] The plague on this world would see the destruction of the 2nd New Ivaarsen Chasseurs and the remnants of their mercenary support, the Blacklate Mentals, Brian's Bombers, Colstrup's Cavalliers and Weizer Volunteers,[50] and also the 12th Ghost regiment.[51][49]
