The Canopian Highlanders were a mercenary unit that formed after the Reunification War.
Contents
History
Pre-Jihad
Founded after the Reunification War, the unit stayed on the side of the Magistracy of Canopus for the next few wcenturies. For a short time they signed a contract with the Federated Commmonwealth in exchange for upgrades, but the Davionists didn't stand by their word. The Highlanders returned to their home state and during the next years the command defended several planets against bandit raiders. Tragedy struck the force in 3067 after a successful bombing attempt against the unit's senior staff. The force behind the assassination was a group of three different pirate bands.[1]
Jihad
During the Jihad, the unit defended the Magistracy. By 3079, the Canopian Highlanders had survived the Jihad and formally merged with the Magistracy Armed Forces.[2] They became the third unit of the Magistracy Highlanders brigade, and were stationed on Cate's Hold and Brixtana.[3]
In 3085 the regiment had assembled all its units on Cate's Hold. The unit had also rebuilt to within 20% of its nominal strength.[4]
