Planetary Info
Chatham is a Combine factory world with two continents, Crom where the capital city Strabo is located and Lemure. Though beautiful from orbit, the centuries of supporting three different manufacturers have taken a dramatic toll on the planet. When newcomers land they are treated to some of the foulest air in the Inner Sphere. This is due to the lack of emissions controls on the factories, which combine with native microorganisms to poison the atmosphere. Despite this taint, the massive amounts of natural resources ensure that Chatham's factories will remain productive for many years to come.[1]
Planetary History
Post-Jihad Era
In the wake of the Jihad the shipyards on and around Chatham came under increasing demand to up production. The Tomori Trans Industrial plants near Strabo were attempting to double production at this point, although the dramatically increased security around the facility made it impossible for foreign intelligence services to determine if this would involve the production of new DropShip classes beyond the Vengeance and Nekohono'o classes already produced on site.[6] Similarly, the Stellar Trek shipyards in orbit above Chatham were rushing to produce Merchant, Monolith and Invader-class JumpShips as quickly as possible to try and boost Combine shipping levels following the huge damage inflicted on the Combine during the Jihad.[7]
At this point in time, the Wakazashi Enterprises facilities on Lemure included an airport capable of servicing not just the various AeroSpace Fighters and conventional aircraft produced at the plant itself, but also any other fighter or aircraft in service with the DCMS.[8]
