Durham
System Information
Recharge station(s)None (3059)[1]

The Durham system was home to a supply station operated by the Draconis Combine in the immediate aftermath of the Clan Invasion.[1]

System Description

The system known as Durham is located in the coreward region of the Deep Periphery between one and two jumps from the Star League era system known as Isfahan. The system had at least one habitable planet.[1]

System History

It is unknown when the Durham system was colonized, but in 3059 it was home to Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery Supply Station Roku, a supply hub responsible for supporting forty-seven assorted operations being conducted by the DCMS, the Internal Security Force and Explorer Corps. The operations were all part of the ongoing operation against the Clans. Durham was known to be within one jump of nineteen systems with habitable worlds and two jumps of forty systems with habitable worlds.[1]

Planetary History

The DCMS supply station on Durham was plagued by pirates for some time. The pirate band, identified subsequently as Corazon's Cossacks, were operating from the nearby Isfahan system and were regularly raiding supply station Roku. With no garrison capable of repelling the raids, the station commanding officer - and yakuza member - Tai-i Samuel Cooper entered into an arrangement with the pirates whereby he would arrange for certain supplies to be left in a particular warehouse for them to loot, to avoid more damaging attacks and allow the supply station to continue supplying operations in the Deep Periphery. While a pirate raid was happening, the local station personnel would secure themselves in armoured bunkers; the pirates would collect the supplies, which were effectively a form of tribute or danegeld, and leave the bulk of the station and its personnel alone... although the pirates would also ransack the administrative building, abduct any prisoners in the detention center to sell as slaves, and disable or badly damage the local sewage processing plant as a part of each raid.[1]

In January 3059 the Hessian Horsemen arrived on Durham. Under contract to the DCMS, the Horsemen were tasked with preventing the pirate raids, which meant locating the pirate base of operations as well as destroying the raiders. The Horsemen repelled an attack on Durham in January - the Cossacks having arrived via a pirate point located close to Durham's moon - and planted an undercover agent within the Cossacks, tracking them back to their base on Isfahan and subsequently destroying the pirate unit in April.[1]
