Iris Steiner was a Lyran Commonwealth noble and a career officer in the LCAF.

History[edit]

Succession Wars[edit]

As of 3025 Iris was the Margrave of Cavanaugh Theater.[4] When the deposed Alessandro Steiner returned to his estate outside Kelestra City on Furillo, Iris decided to keep tabs on the former Archon to assure he wasn't gathering forces for a coup. Though she could see the wily politician beneath his genial demeanor, an unlikely friendship sprouted between the two, and she became one of his most frequent guests.[5]

By 3046, Iris met Colonel Thomas Hogarth, the new commander of the Furillo BPM. The two formed a similar friendship based on their appreciation of chess and lively discussion. Iris' son, Marshal Caesar Steiner, viewed Hogarth's motivations with deep concern.[6]

Civil War[edit]

While Archon Katrina trusted Iris, the friendship between her and Alessandro would eventually come to color the LIC's view of the Duchess and the Furillo BPM. In 3062, the Lyran Alliance Armed Forces suspected Iris to be sympathetic to Robert Kelswa-Steiner and Free Skye, and that she may have transferred those feelings to Hogarth and the rest of the BPM.[7]

Death[edit]

The death of Duchess Iris was still recent news in August 3067, when her son Caesar penned his report on the readiness of the LAAF. While her son succeeded her as the ruler of Furillo, the move left Hogarth and the Furillo BPM in the lurch. Though Hogarth and the BPM pledged their loyalty to the new Duke of Furillo, General Steiner had many responsibilities to deal with and did not fulfill the same role of local patron his mother had.[3]
