Planetary History
Early History
Lothair first appeared on interstellar maps shortly before the Reunification War, but by that point was already a heavily-populated world with a rapidly growing industrial base. The Taurian Concordat had worked hard to keep Lothair a secret, but intelligence gathered by the Star League Defense Force after the beginning of the war in 2578 pointed to the existence of this important world. By 2580 the SLDF had located Lothair and was ready to launch an assault, with VI Corps in the vanguard of the assault. Major General Harmond Vriss, the VI Corps commanding officer, and his forces were forced to plan the campaign with very little information to go on.
The assault on Lothair rapidly saw Vriss and his forces trapped in the same form of brutal slugging match the SLDF had experienced in the campaign for the Pleiades Cluster, facing dogged and heavy resistance from the 6th Concordat Velites, a part of the Taurian IV Corps, and the inevitable civilian brigades. The progress of the campaign to conquer the planet was often measured in centimeters; the defenders ensured that battles such as those to capture Industrialplexes 2 and 4 and the important city of Satrinos were measured not just in centimeters but by body count. Complicating the SLDF campaign was a resurgent resistance on the nearby world of Anaheim, pulling support for Vriss' forces away; while VI Corps would finally destroy the 6th Concordat Velites in early November, the civilian population continued to resist and it would be well into 2581 before Lothair could be considered to have been pacified.[5]
The Jihad
In response to the asteroid bombardment of Taurus and evidence that implicated the Federated Suns, the Taurian Concordat launched a second invasion of the Federated Suns during the Jihad. Lothair was an early target, attacked during late June 3074 and secured in July along with the nearby world of Hyalite.[30][31] The Federated Suns launched a counter-offensive in February 3075 using a combination of AFFS and militia units backed up by Hansen's Roughriders, but the Taurian defenders were able to defeat the Federated Suns' first wave, retaining control of Lothair.[31][41]

Notes
The Jihad timelines present within various volumes indicate that Lothair was conquered twice, once in June 3074 and then again in July 3074. The actual chain of events was confirmed on the Catalyst Game Labs forum:
“ | 3074, June: Taurian mercenaries attacked Lothair, Bromhead, Midale, Brockway and Hyalite.
3074, July: Lothair and Warrenwas finallly secured, while Lindsay, Carmichael and Diefenbaker was attacked. 3075, February: the AFFS strikes back at Lothair and Warren. |
