Maurice Avellar was a second cousin to President Mitchell Avellar on his father's side.

History

In 3025 Maurice was the commanding officer of the Avellar Guard.[1]

When Mitchell Avellar took office in early 3056, he appointed Maurice to the post of second in command of the Alliance Military Corps, with the rank of Senior Chairman. While he was aware that promoting a relative to such an important position could be viewed as cronyism by his political opponents, Mitchell was certain that Maurice had the expertise and character needed to oversee the overhaul of the Military Corps.
