Owner History

Planetary Overview

In the same manner that Pangaea once dominated the makeup of ancient Terra, the world of Seginus is dominated by the giant supercontinent of Teremun. Thunderstorms, hurricanes and tornadoes are a constant feature of Seginus throughout the local year, with the seasons only varying the intensity and frequency of the violent weather which constantly churns the oceans of the world and batters Teremun. In addition to the storms, the hot and steamy Teremun continent is dominated by rocky mountains and thick jungles.[1]

Planetary History

Early History

Seginus was settled by the Federation of Skye despite the lack of any significant mineral or metal wealth and the harsh climate. A local form of life, the Segine tempest swimmer, briefly became a delicacy throughout the Federation, but the fad didn't last long enough to do more than briefly boost the economy of Seginus. When the Federation of Skye joined with other nations to form the Lyran Commonwealth Seginus felt the benefits of this new interstellar alliance in the form of increased interstellar trade.[1]

Age of War/Star League Era

While trade was hampered by the month-long transit between the nearest safe jump point and Seginus itself, the Commonwealth established four transit stations between the jump point and the surface of the planet, each of was a marvel of spacecraft engineering and which served incoming and outgoing traffic.[1]

The Succession Wars

While Seginus was a poor target for raids and attacks given the long in-system transit time, all four of the waystations suffered from the general decline in advanced technology experienced during the Succession Wars, and by the thirty-second century all four no longer existed.[1]

The Dark Age

Despite the difficulties in trading with Seginus the planet continues to engage in interstellar trade at a subsistence level, exporting both produce generated from the marine ranching industry and limited quantities of common metals. The largest of the companies involved in the food processing and marine ranching industries, Segine AquaCulture, still maintains it's headquarters in the planetary capital of Gambootas.[1]
