Armed Forces of the Federated Suns[edit]

In the AFFS, a recently-graduated military academy Cadet is given the rank of Subaltern. If they successfully complete their duties for six months they are promoted to Leftenant.[1]

Prior to the formation of the Federated Commonwealth, Subalterns wore a plain white epaulette as their rank insignia. After the FedCom Civil War, the AFFS changed the Subaltern's insignia to a plain green epaulette trimmed in their branch color.[2]
