Ulysses Steiner was a Lyran Commonwealth noble related to House Steiner.[1] His branch of the family had holdings on Tharkad, Solaris VII and Donegal which were destroyed during the Jihad. He was the head of Silver Fist Shipping, the family's bussines created around 3004 by his great-grandfather.[2]

History

Steiner would serve as part of the First Royal Guards. During the Jihad he fought against Manei Domini as an infantry officer.[1]

Operation RED LION

During 3083 he served as the head of a Lyran task-force that was following the whereabouts of several Word of Blake weapons caches. Along members of Clan Wolf-in-Exile he arrived to Medellin and on the 23rd of October met Colonel Xavier Aznar and Major Flavio Mendoza of the local police department to inquiere about the planetary kingpin Thomas Neronez, also known as Fer-de-Lance, as latest inteligence shows he might be behind some of this weapons movement that includes chemical and biological weapons.[1]

Sometime later the raid against Thomas Noronez starts with Major Flavio Mendoza leading a BOE Company equiped with Smoothdavid II PA(L) while Steiner, coming with them is wearing a Nighthawk XXI. The teams four truks advance though Tabatinga's favelas. Once dismounted the raid to go pass the favela's into Neronez's house starts. The police team encounters several chocke points and Steiner asks Point Commander Dorjan to take care of them with his elementals. As they advance they seem to find a gap in Neronez defenses which Steiner flags as a potential trap, but the police goes in nevertheless. They end entering in a predefined kill zone and only the timely actions of Steiner save them from being killed by APM-60 land mines. Keeping pressing on they advance, though the full operation is not going well with several police officers wounded or dead, things turn to worse when they encounter a Centaur and an Harpy ProtoMechs, an unexpected tornaround as the cache was not allegedly having any. Point Commander Dorjan and his point charge against them. The Protomech's pilot skill seem lacking as Dorjan tells Steiner otherwise they should be dead by now. When they are able to neutralize them they discover that the pilots are teens, which explains their lack of good tactics and fighting habilities. Steiner, the elementals and the BOE policemen finally reach Neronez bunker-house and finally capture him.[1]

The days later Steiner meets with Mendoza and they chat about the kids that piloted the ProtoMechs and also of the most than possible Word of Blake helping Neronez to run the surgeries needed for them to operate the ProtoMechs. As for while would the WoB have ProtoMehcs, Steiner hints that intel bet was on WoB trying to implement that kind of program to enhance their Meni Domini forces. Steiner gives money to Mendoza to pay for the funeral of the kids and asks Mendoza to ensure Neronez does not see the light of sun again... otherwise Lohengrin will have to take care.[1]

Finally Steiner and Dorjan left with the Crimson Dancer[1] a Union-class DropShip[2] to follow the WoB with some information gathered from the mission and the weapon cache itself.[1]

Operation BLUE TIGER

Finally contacting the WoB, Steiner and his crew arrive with the Crimson Dancer to the Zenith Point of the Willunga system the 23rd of January 3084 where they are met by Invader-class JumpShip Dobb's Star and asked to dock in one of their collars. During the flight, Steiner asks the Dropship captain Gregory Rand to comply with that order and ensure also that the ship is cleaned of any suspicious element. While closing the distance Steiner's DropShip detects a Overlord-class Pocket WarShip already docked that is later iddentified as the Lightgiver.[2]

After the Crimson Dancer docks with the JumpShip a man identified as Mr. Smith (later identified as Precentor XI Omega/Beta Helli Szabó and several other WoB people enter Steiner's DropShip and arrangements are made for them to inspect the DropShip in case this is a LIC trap and also to review the crates Steiner liberated from Medellin. Steiner is told they are going to jump to go to another place as WoB here does not have enought cargo capabilities to handle all the lot.[2]

After the JumpShip makes two jumps in a row, they detach escoted by the Overlord-Class DropShip Lightgiver to the fifth planet of the system later identified as Ripple.[2]

While he and his team transit to the planet, his hackers are able to completely shut down and cyber-capture the Dobb's Star.[2]

Near the orbit of the planet, the DropShips discharges a Kirghiz with stealth technology with two points of battle armour infantry consisting of one Gray Death Scout, one Gray Death Strike and eight Gray Death Standard in preparation for the capture of the WoB forces.[2]

Once on planet they are visited by two Bolla tanks that carry a mix of Achileus and Longinus Battle armor and who were escorting a new WoB member, Mr. Black (later identified as Precentor XV Demen Gregorka).[2]

While they proceed to unload the cargo it is detected that at least eigth and as much as twelve Purifier Battle armour had moved to prepare a trap once all cargo is downloaded, and at a similar time the scout team identifies the defense forces visible as five are Elementals, six are Achileus and a single Longinus plus two dozen unarmored personnel as the WoB forces.[2] Ulysses urges his hacker team to take care of the Overlord otherwise the trap they are preparing will fail.[2]

When the trap is sprung, Steiner and his team counterattack. Steiner wounds Precentor Helli Szabó and kills Precentor Demen Gregorka will his team beats all the elemental support from the WoB without casualties on their team, though there are several wounded like himself. The DropShip fires no shoot after the hacker team disables it and it is captured. Also several WoB soldiers and familiars are captured alive. As a bonus, his hacker team was able to infiltrate the DropShip and its analysis revealed a lot of information expected to make LIC happy.[2]
