Planetary Info
Shipka was discovered by traders out of St. Andre who were trying to reach Highspire. After exploring the system they discovered that the world was rich in natural resources and possessed abundant fresh water. To honor the captain of the JumpShip, they named the system after him.[1]
Though Shipka's resources made it self-sufficient, its true potential was as a trans-shipment point for trading vessels. Over time the population exploded as traders brought more and more immigrants who settled the three continents. The largest continent, Cambridge, houses the DropPort and provides agricultural products. The other two continents, Hillsborough and Foxborough, are producers of petroleum and precious minerals (Hillsborough) and timber products, coal, and shale (Foxborough).[1]
During the Fourth Succession War Shipka was taken by the Federated Suns. There it functioned as it had for the Capellans, as a way-station for traders. After Operation Guerrero's success, Shipka was left to its own devices before being readmitted into the Capellan Confederation.[1]
