Brief Planetary History

Skondia was settled for its abundant deposits of rare metals and minerals. Within a decade of the first colonists arrival, the first cities on Skondia were producing nickel alloy metals, titanium, and steel used in everything from silverware to fusion reactors.[1]

First Succession War

In June of 2786, the Draconis Combine attacked the planet.[4] The quick capture of Skondia convinced then-Coordinator Minoru Kurita that the Steiners weren't worthy of fighting his troops. The world would be raided many more times during the Succession Wars and change hands several times, but for the most part the Combine retained control of Skondia.[1]

The Fourth Succession War

The planet was invaded in Draconis Combine's 14th Legion of Vega in 3029. This was part of the Combine's counter-assault named Operation Contagion during last year of the Fourth Succession War. At the time, the planet was lightly defended with only five militia infantry regiments and two battalions of militia BattleMechs. The 14th Legion landed on top of outpost name Fort Eagle, where the two infantry regiments defending the outpost fought bravely and were completely wiped out. The Legion inflict considerable amount of damage as they hopped city to city destroying any resistance to Combine rule. Five weeks into Legion's campaign, on planet LCAF acting commanding officer Colonel Mitch Freeman order his green untrained BattleMech battalions to confront Vegans. The First & Second Battalions of the Skondia Militia charged Legion, to Combine soldiers surprise. The surprise charge inflicted heavy damage two organized companies of the Vegan's BattleMechs. However, once organized, the Vegans wiped out last resistance on Skondia within minutes.[5] The planet was conquered and taken control of by the Draconis Combine.

Jihad

During the Jihad the Word of Blake captured the world and integrated it into the Word of Blake Protectorate. Eventually Clan Ghost Bear forces would liberate the planet from the Blakists.[6] Though the Blakists had little hesitation in using weapons of mass destruction to destroy their enemies, for some reason they didn't employ them on Skondia.[1]
