Arcturan Arms was a military hardware manufacturer based on Arcturus, the former capital of the Lyran Commonwealth.
Overview
During the Age of War, the company produced a number of notable vehicles including the Marsden I MBT[1] in 2396, the Büffel VII[2] in 2407, the Marsden II MBT[3] in 2463 and the Crossbow, the second home-grown Lyran produced BattleMech in 2468. Despite these achievements, the company's fortunes suffered when the Lyran Commonwealth shifted its capital from Arcturus to Tharkad, forcing it to shut down its factory in 2490 after producing only a few hundred Crossbows. MacEnroe Motors bought out the financially troubled company in 2541, which shut down Crossbow production in 2550.[4]
During the Jihad Arcturan Arms expanded its refit facility to produce RetroTech 'Mechs for the LCAF. Production on these lines shut down by 3079.[5] The money from those lines, however, was able to launch new Marsden II production facilities on Buena[6] and Halfway.[7] The increased capital also allowed Arcturan Arms to begin production of some other, more advanced BattleMechs and Aerospace Fighters.[8]
