History

Arcturus was the original capital of the Lyran Commonwealth, home to Arcturan Arms and serving as seat of government to the Nine Archons. Eventually, with the Draconis Combine slowly gaining ground in the Tamar Pact to directly threaten Arcturus with an invasion, Archon Marsden proposed a switch of the capital to his own homeworld of Tharkad in the Donegal Protectorate, which was accepted by the other Archons.

The resulting population shift as inhabitants followed the capital has left a series of cities on the world that are vastly oversized for the current population. Many of the citizens moved to the countryside as well, making the cities feel even emptier. Several of these cities remain in use, but with dramatically reduced populations. Many of the rest of them have been destroyed by the environment as nature reclaims the land.

Arcturus' economy shifted focus as well. No longer based on serving the politicians and government, agriculture instead forms the core of the planet's economy. The other noteworthy aspect of the citizenry is their strong (almost fanatical) support of the Steiner family. Many Arcturans join the LCAF as soon as they can, eager to see more of the nation that their world formerly oversaw.
