Danny Spriggs (born 30?? - died circa 3077) was an Andurien Tank commander and officer.

History

Danny was the son of the Colonel John Marshall Spriggs, following his steps, enlisting in the Andurien Defenders. Like his father, was a idealist and strong believer of the cause of Andurien's independence. He lose his father due a cancer before the Andurien Secession in 3030.[1] Danny fought in the war, during the invasion of Capellan Confederation space, and lather, defending Andurien against the Marik invader. In late May of 3037, he was destined in Xanthe III. The Marik invasion quickly outnumbered the Andurien Defenders, forcing them to retreat offworld, abandoning many of their supplies. Attempting to delay the pursuit, left a group in the city of New Barstow. And Danny's battalion was one of these unlucky units.[2] [3] The notable casualties of his superior, Major Mitchell's, put the originally Lieutenant Danny Spriggs at rank of Brevet-Major at only twenty-six, commanding the defense.[4] His unit, composed only of infantry and armor, was defending the front lines, a canal through the city. The Marik attackers were broadcasting a message during weeks, saying than every twelve seconds a Andurien defender dies in New Barstow, implying than they must surrender before is their turn. But Danny, despite the fact than knows his defense was a doomed one, and his morale, and his men's, were weakening day to day, refused to. During a attack of the Fifth Marik Militia, Danny lead a counterattack, attempting to delay the inevitable Marik victory, with two Von Luckner tanks. They managed to destroy two Marik Galleon Tanks, but then, they fall under the attack of two Marik Battlemechs: a Vindicator and a Rifleman. The other Von Luckner blows after a hard fight, and later both 'Mechs attacked Danny's tank.[5]

Death and Legacy

Danny's tank was crippled and on fire, with half crew killed. Danny attempted to escape and evacuate the tank, with the only other survivor, but he falls, implying than he dies when his tank's blows.[6] However, Danny's sacrifice was a success: the last stand of New Barstow, despite bloody, win both Defender units the time to depart, leaving Xanthe III in Marik hands. But at the end, was useless: at the end of the next year, Andurien fell, and the Duchy was forcible incorporated again in the League.[7]

Vehicles

In New Barstow, Danny commanded a Von Luckner Tank, the "Lucy B".[8]

Personality

Danny was, like his father, and idealistic, young enthusiastic and ready to carry the torch of the cause of Andurien Independence. After two years of fighting, he become more serious, older, and with little enthusiasm. Like his father before him, he appreciated his soldiers and want to protect them above else. Danny was clearly very near of his father, and think a lot about him.

Notes

It is unknown if Danny served in the Third Defenders of Andurien or the Fifth Defenders of Andurien.
