Hellgate is a planet located in the Kerensky Cluster, known for the harsh conditions on the planet's surface. However, it is situated along JumpShip routes within the Kerensky Cluster, and boasts large germanium deposits.[2]

Life can only exist on Hellgate within huge, translucent domes that cover most major installations.

The planet was an important enclave of Clan Snow Raven until Clan Steel Viper conducted a number of aggressive Trials of Possession starting in 2897, which ultimately led to the seizure and control of the entire planet by the Vipers in 2899.[11][2]

In 3051, Clan Steel Viper sought revenge for loss of took enclave on Hellgate, by advantage of weakness Jade Falcon's forces from Battle of Tukayyid.[12]

In the year after the death of ilKhan Leo Showers, Clan Jade Falcon traded their foothold on the planet to Clan Steel Viper, in exchange for fleet assets to the Snow Ravens. The deal provoked protest within the Raven touman and both Raven khans had to defend their positions multiple times.

Hellgate remained the holding of Clan Cloud Cobra after the cessation of the Wars of Reaving. Sometime after 3075, the Bandit Pierce, a former leader with the Clan Coyote Scientist Caste and the Society, began reaching out to former colleagues to restart his smuggling operations. While Pierce had been involved in major trafficking across five systems, most of his operations trafficking in human body parts and blood samples (taken from Blood chapels) were destroyed during the Wars of Reaving. Arriving aboard a Hunter-class JumpShip in 3077, Pierce established a new cell of about 15 members. The cell was discovered by the Clan Cloud Cobra Watch late in 3079. After being tortured for three days for more information, Pierce died of his injuries.[14]
