Kendra Slavoski was a Free Worlds League Military officer who fought in the Word of Blake Jihad as part of Stone's Coalition.[1]
History
Jihad Era
Kendra was native from the planet Cole Harbour and became a militia corporal. Her aunt gave her a BattleMech, but as her family cannot pay him an academy, she studied herself. By 3078, she had twenty-three years and had managed to reach the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and command 3rd Cole Harbour Support Battalion.[2]
On 22 January, she assisted to a meeting in duchess Alys Rousset-Marik, on the planet Hsien. She informed the presents about the arrival of two regiments of Capellan Confederation on planet. The capellans have refused to talk, attacking Stone's Coalition Task forces and the blakists too. Among the presents was Star Colonel John Lassenerra, commanding officer of the Eleventh Mechanized Cavalry, which had been held in reserve. Intrigued, Kendra had been looking him. The duchess ordered the Colonel to attack the Capellan's elitest unit, the Fourth Tau Ceti Rangers and crush them, killing as many as he can until she ordered him to stop, to force the Capellans to negotiate. The clanners viewed that unit, descendant of one of the SLDF which hadn't joined Operation Exodus, as traitors, and was happy to obey.[3] Later, Alys presented Kendra to Lassenerra: as his Cluster was low on auxiliaires, the duchess wanted to reinforce it with Kendra's battalion. John began testing Kendra's competences before departing in a hoverbike. Then, Alys boarded Kendra again. She ordered the young one to keep an eye upon the stubborn Horse commander, and being Alys eyes, ears and conscience between them. Kendra promised to do it, before following the Colonel in her 'Mech.[4]
Once in the Horses' Mobile HQ, Kendra reported to the Stal Colonel, and she was welcomed by another officer, Nova Captain Ernesto Ravenwater, which introduced her to Point Commander Amanda, the coregn, logistical officer of the Cluster. She began testing Kendra's knowledges immediately, and she passed. When the Lieutenant suggested using the Clister's ProtoMech Star, Lassenerra said her than wanted to keep then hidden for the Rangers, for if they didn't know its existance. John's tone was serious, implying he doesn't believe Kendra will be up to the task. After being dismissed, the Lieutenant talked to Amanda, making her several suggestions. The Horse officer didn't appreciate them, so Kendra had to solve their problems in a Circle of Equals. There, sheeasily defeated Amanda, taking the command of all logistics into the Cluster.[5]
Soon after, the commanding officer of the Rangers, sang-shao Daniel Jax, contacted the Horses and both leaders discussed the fight terms, exchanging threats. The capellan commander was so sure of its victory than only leaved his MASH units out of the battle. Kendra correctly guesssed his intentions to attack the Horses' rear to capture supplies and technicians, and she shared it with Lassenerra. Later, she talked with Ernesto, discussing the Horses's forces disposition. The Stal Colonel ordered her to go with him, to see how she fight in a 'Mech.[6]
When preparing to the battle, Lassenerra suspected about Kendra's old Cooling Vest, and she had to confess his lack of formal training. The colonel agreed to leave her stay with the unit, but promised to send her back with the duchess after the battle. After the Horses began moving to a ridge, the Colonel gave Kendra orders about the artillery use in the battle, and congratulated her about her careful dispositions of the logistic units. She was overjoyed with his compliment. During the battle, Kendra directed the artillery, following Lassenerra's instructions. Using her 'Mech, she managed to cripple a Demolisher tank. When the capellans retrated and the Horses pushed them, Kendra saw the clanners weren't taking prisoner. Her plea to the Star Colonel succeeded, and he ordered the capture of those Rangers which surrended.[7]
After the battle, the Colonel gave Kendra a Cooling Suit. She had barely put it when Ravenwater boarded her. He offered to couple with her, but Kendra answered than she wasn't interested in males, when discovered something strange. Both were attacked by a couple of Capellan Battlefield Infiltration Units. They wounded Ernesto, but Kendra managed to disarm and kill both, bandaging Ravenwater, saving his life. She threw after the battle, shocked by her first kills. As trophy, the Star Colonel let Kendra to keep the commandos pair of Vibroswords and Needlers.[8]
During the Horses' final assault to the Rangers' landing zone, Kendra was appealed when she saw a Overlord DropShip blow, under the Clanners airspace attack. Later she assisted in downing a Capellan Men Shen. The Rangers were crushed, and its commander began calling Lassenerra, but the Horses ignored it, focusing in slaughtering any Ranger. Kendra had to save a Lao Hu pilot, and again appealed to the Star Colonel to stop the killing. Making appeal to his honor, Lassenerra accepted, ordering a cease fire. Kendra then realized she had win the Horses's respect.[9]
In a later meeting with the duchess Alys, along with the Star Colonel, the 24th, both were congratulated by their work. Lassenerra pretended than never had said wanting to return Kendra to the duchess. And The Lieutenant, after Alys offered her a place in her staff, refused: she still needed to learn a lot more, and she wanted to laern from the best... and, for her, those were the Horses.[10]
