Yeguas III is the third planet in the Yeguas system; the planet has two moons, named Cue Ball and Eight Ball.[1]
Planetary History
Clan Invasion
Yeguas spent most of the Succession Wars as a quiet agricultural world famous for raising horses and growing food. In fact, massive agricultural concerns own most of the third largest continent, producing large amounts of exportable crops. Though its importance increased during the Clan Invasion, the AFFC High Command didn't assign more garrison units to the world. The High Command believed that the Clans weren't likely to attack a world with no military units to speak of, and they were correct.[1] In fact it wasn't until the Red Corsair incident that Yeguas saw any combat, and that took place on the airless moon of Cue Ball.[41]
Jihad
In the 3080s the Fourth Donegal Guards were assigned to the defense of Yeguas. The Fourth had been defeated on New Syrtis in the closing stages of the FedCom Civil War and had ended up spending the Jihad in a Capellan Confederation prisoner of war camp. After Terra was liberated in 3078 during Operation SCOUR diplomats began negotiating for the release of the survivors of the Fourth, negotiations which took more than a year but which were ultimately successful. The survivors were repatriated, given various psychological evaluations and used as the basis of the rebuilt Fourth - at least, once the various Capellan moles had been removed from the unit. Rebuilt into an LCT and assigned to Yeguas, the Fourth were largely dismissed by the nearby Jade Falcons as being merely "average" and a far less worthy opponent than their sister regiment, the Second Donegal Guards. Despite the Falcons' assessment of the Fourth's combat prowess, when the Falcons attempted to capture Yeguas in the 3080s the Fourth proved entirely capable of rebuffing the Clan forces.[42]
