Planetary History
Exodus
When the Tamar family founded the interstellar state known as the Tamar Pact in 2235, Nox was one of the worlds that formed a part of the Pact and represented one border of the realm, which stretched as far as Suk II and Fatima.[2]
Age of War
Nox was one of the targets of the 2463–2468 Long March Offensive conducted by the Lyran Commonwealth, and was invaded in the first three years of the campaign. The second prime objective of the Long March in part due to the many gem deposits to be found on the world, Nox was attacked after the successful invasion of Skondia. The campaign for Nox wasn't as easy as the battle for Skondia but the BattleMech forces available to the Lyran armed forces ensured their victory over the defending DCMS contingent.[5]
Nox is noteworthy for having been the site of the first-large scale BattleMech battle in the history of the Inner Sphere. The Draconis Combine assaulted Nox in 2475, making use of their newly fielded BattleMech forces, developed in secret following the Combine acquiring BattleMech technology in the early 2460s. The assault, spearheaded by the Second Sword of Light regiment, saw the Combine forces suffer a heavy defeat at the hands of the primitive Lyran COM-1A Commando.[46] The loss on Nox was sufficiently humiliating that the reputation of the primitive GLD-1R Gladiator 'Mech was permanently tarnished, with production halted and investment instead made into the development of the new Von Rohrs as the Combine's primary BattleMech. The 2nd Sword of Light's performance resulted in their commanding officer being quickly replaced by Colonel Ibis Von Rohrs.[47][48]
First Succession War
Nox was one of a number of strategically important systems in the Lyran Commonwealth to be subjected to bombardment by the Draconis Combine between 2786 and 2790, as the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces began to crack under the pressure of continuing efforts to annex the Bolan Thumb while also attempting to maintain a defensive posture against both the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery and the Free Worlds League Military.[49]
Fourth Succession War
In mid-3029, following several months of consolidation in the aftermath of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the Lyran Commonwealth went on the offensive again in the Trellshire and Tamar theaters of operation. While a large part of the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces' attention went into trying to win ongoing conflicts on a handful of worlds, seven new planetary assaults were launched. Nox, defended only by militia units, was one of the seven worlds targeted and was swiftly conquered.[50]
Clan Invasion
Clan Wolf invaded Nox in February 3052 during the Fifth Wave of Operation REVIVAL. The Eleventh Battle Cluster easily defeated the First Nox Armored Regiment and the First and Second Nox Infantry Regiments at the Hiel Crossroads and the battle for Bolsun, after which the militia surrendered.[51]
